Islands of Hong Kong Photos

islands-of-hong-kong-photosOur Islands of Hong Kong Photos cover some of the 426 sq miles of landmass and inland water that make up Hong Kong. As much of Hong Kong’s terrain is mountainous, less than 25% of the land is developed, and about 40% of the remaining land area is reserved as country parks and nature reserves.

Once you get away from the urban districts and particularly off the main Hong Kong island, there plenty of beaches, hikes, temples, village restaurants and tourist attractions to view. For example, Lantau is home to Disneyland, the Ngong Ping 360 cable car to the ‘Big Buddha, bronze statue and the Wisdom Path walk. Lantau is also home to the Po Lin Monastery, the airport and poular residential areas such as Tung Chung and Discovery Bay.

Lantau is Hong Kong’s largest island and is twice the size of Hong Kong island. Within the territory there are 263 islands over 500 m2. Cheung Chau, Lamma Island, and Peng Chau are all popular for sight-seeing and can be accessed by public ferry.
